Specializes on dynamic surface processes observed by scanning probe microscopy in ultra-high vacuum and in operando conditions, e.g. self-organization of molecules on inert surfaces, local tip-induced surface changes, chemical reactions on surfaces, temperature-induced and pressure-induced surface changes.

Preparation and characterization of model surfaces in ultra-high vacuum. Scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy, atomic force microscopy, X-ray photoemission spectroscopy, low-energy electron diffraction, scanning electron microscopy.
