Ultrasonic catalyst spray coater

Ultrasonic spray coating is a thin film coating technique based on ultrasonic atomizing nozzle technology that can provide highly homogenous and thin coatings with higher precision than other coating techniques, such as drop casting, spin coating, and screen printing. Conventionally, pressure nuzzles are used for atomization. Alternatively, the ultrasonic nozzle uses high frequency sound waves to create a fine mist of uniform micron sized droplets, enabling controllable and reproducible spray patterns for reliable and consistent results.

In our laboratory there is a Sono-tek’s ExactaCoat system automated with a coordinated XYZ motion control. The basic specifications are:

  • Work area: 400x400x100 mm.
  • Nozzle distance: 5-70 mm.
  • Nozzle speed: 20-2000 mm/min.
  • Flow rate: 0.01-20 ml/min.
  • Heat and vacuum plate.

Applications

  • Alternative energy and nanomaterials (fuel cell, electrolyzer, solar cell, and sensors).
  • Industrial (functional coatings and protective coatings).
  • Medical.
  • Semiconductors.
